Romsey Road House, Woodend

This forever home built on the site of the original early 1900’s farmhouse, was always going to be aspirational.  The clients, who have lived on the site for nearly 30 years, have a beautiful story about how each tree in the garden was planted in memory or honour of significant events and people in their life.  A marriage, a birth, a passing.  The result is a rich tapestry of memories weaved into a garden setting - a literal storey of their lives. The house was planned around the garden, with views and vistas being central to the building form and orientation.  The intention was to create as many different garden experiences as possible, so connection to the site both physically and visually was everything.  Formally the building comprises two intersecting extrusions, with the northern end cranked to access views and north light.  Construction commenced in late 2022 and we can’t wait for the photos of the finished house.
